Mad Rubber

We have been making climbing shoes for over 10 years, so we know the importance of rubber. We have been developing extremely sticky rubber in our own rubber factory and have finally come up with possibly the stickiest rubber. We believe the climber is the ultimate judge of our product, and invite you to decide for yourself whether our Mad Rubber is the stickiest rubber in the world.

Mad Rubber Formula #5: The optimal balance between Sticky and Hard, this top secret formula is light years ahead of any other rubber on the market. It is used on the hooking rim of the Hooker, Mugen and Shark in addition to being used on the sole of the Flash and Phoenix.

Hooker Sole (Patented.)

While most climbing shoes use a convex sole with a single hardness rubber, the new Hooker shoe rises above, combining our patented Concave Dual Hardness System that improves edging capabilities while the concave shape increases surface area when smearing. The Dual Hardness System is a new technology, consisting of an innovative hard rubber rim surrounding a soft rubber center to create the edging and hooking rim, for extreme edging without an extremely stiff mid-sole.

Hooker Heel (Pat.Pend.)

We have molded the heel cup in a 3-dimensional shape to eliminate heel slippage and added a few teeth for better heel hooking capabilities. Now your climbing shoe fits like a glove and hooks like a claw. Because heel hooking does not require much weight, we have used a softer rubber compound for better smearing. By not using the conventional method of gluing two one-dimensional pieces of rubber together, we have not only eliminated de-lamination problems, but also created the best fitting heel cup on the market today.

Power Upper with Hooking Teeth

Conventional knowledge is that leather will stretch after a few climbs, so most manufacturers add a cotton liner inside the shoe. This lining is the main cause of discomfort and hot spots while climbing. Because rubber retains its shape without stretching, even after hundreds of climbs, we have chosen to use molded rubber over leather for the toe on all shoes in the Hooker series. We have also added molded rubber teeth to the upper for toe hooking and side-hugging .

Side Entry System

A Mad Rock design first, used on the Hooker and Hooker Zip models. Moving the shoe closure system to the side allows for greater surface area coverage of Mad Rubber on the top of the shoe, making the Hooker twins the shoe to beat for toe hooking, jamming and crack climbing.
