Keep the Right Course
The electronic compass is a great tool for any sailor. It shows you your bearing and cardinal or half-cardinal point, a North-South arrow, and features a bearing tracking function which displays locked bearing, actual bearing and the difference between the two. Yachtsman also allows for declination adjustment. The rotating bezel with a ratchet at every five degrees is especially useful when memorizing wind direction before the start of a sailing race.
Keep One Step Ahead of the Storm
In addition to current barometric pressure and temperature, the Yachtsman gives pressure-related data for the past 4 days: the first 6 hours at 1-hour intervals and after that at 6-hour intervals.
The resolution of the barometer is 1 mbar/0.05 inHg. When the reference altitude is correctly set, the instrument also shows the present sea-level pressure, which makes it easier to read and understand the barometric pressure at high altitudes.
