	This book traces the short, but productive, life of Charles Brooking, examining his artistic technique and illustrating all his best known paintings and drawings, some of the most atmospheric and beautiful of their period. The influence of the 17th Century Dutch School of marine painters on British 18th Century artists is shown, together with biographies and examples of the latters' paintings.
