Full, street-level coverage of 37 European countries is stored on a 2 Gb SD card and route calculations are made within seconds. Touch-screen operation and an easy-to-use remote control make the system very simple to navigate and large, clear icons enable even first-time users to be up and running within a minute or two.
Entering destinations is also very simple using full postcodes, addresses or points of interest such as hotels, fuel stations, restaurants, hospitals and art galleries. In addition to around 1.5 million points of interest, the Camos CN-782 Navigation + Camera System comes with a database of 3,500 camping sites in Europe and City Guides to 34 major cities giving tips on where to eat and sleep as well as what to go and see.
Other mapping features include speed camera warning and TMC for up-to-date information on traffic conditions (currently not available in the UK).
Camos GPS units can also be used to show TV programmes from a digital receiver, to view photos or video and to listen to music.
Despite the numerous connections to the screen, a cleverly designed multi-socket adaptor attaches to the side of the unit, enabling a single cable to carry power and data. This ensures a neat, clutter-free installation. Two mounts are included - permanent and portable systems have internal batteries enabling them to be used anywhere.
